We are all about outdoor education. Our club aim to engage youngsters who already have an interest or like of being outdoors, improving their skills and knowledge so they really engage with the environment they are in. This in turn changes the way they view the world and themselves, giving them more confidence in team or solo situations. But we also make sure it is fun, learning skills such as bushcraft, fire lighting, navigation, team building, hiking, tracking, watching wildlife, campcraft, teaching of the countryside code and much more. We strongly believe that all youngsters benefit from more time outdoors.
Hornets is our club for 8-14 year olds.
At the Hornets, we can really get to grips with many of the outdoor skills we teach. Learning how to use tools, navigate, prepare food and camping skills. Many of the skills learnt while at Hornets will be put to the test at camps and hikes we will run throughout the year.
Hornets is run at our private use woodland in Kelvedon Hatch, Essex on one Saturday a month.
We all have Enhanced DBS checks, up to date safeguarding certificates, outdoor first aid certificates, fully risk assessed, full insurance and great knowledge in the field we teach.
With a great passion for the outdoors and wildlife. Duncan likes to spend as much time outside as possible. 'The more time you spend outside looking, listening and even smelling your surroundings, the more you feel in touch with the environment'.
